Open University leads the way in digital age

5th Oct -

Clear evidence to suggest that course providers should be marketing their programmes online and to a digitally-minded audience has been uncovered by the Open University, which has become a global leaders in terms of the number of downloads its lectures have from students.

The audio recordings allow students to stay up to date with their learning via mobile devices such as iPads and smart phones, the BBC report added.

Dave Evans, commercial director at course manager software provider accessplanit, adds: “We work with many course providers, helping them to market their programmes to a new audience, which invariably is online. Here is a great example of a business tapping into the digital age with great success, clearly this type of activity will only grow for course providers.”

The BBC reported also noted that the iTunes U online service is now recording 300 million downloads a year, with 350,000 lectures on offer.
